GLEN KLEIDON

QUALIFICATIONS & WORK HISTORY

Graduating in 1991 as a Bachelor of Science with majors in Marine Biology and Zoology and minors in Statistics and Chemistry, Glen worked for a year researching Trace Metal analysis in Giant Clams at Townsville's James Cook University .

His medical background in Cytology began in late 1991 after completing an intensive three month course in diagnostic Cytology. From 1991 to 1999 he worked as a cytotechnologist at Townsville Pathology Laboratory. During that time he completed a Certificate of Technology Australian Society of Cytology (CTASC) and a Certificate of Technology International Academy of Cytology (CTIAC) and Certificate Member (CMIAC). Concurrently with these studies he also completed a Graduate Diploma of Education (GradDipEd) in 1992.

Glen's interest in computers started in high school where he began programming in various forms of BASIC and 6502 Assembly Language on Apple II's, ATARI 400's, Commodores and IBM compatibles. He taught computer classes from 1984 to 1986. His first commercial application was published in 1985 - a computer game for the Commodore 64.

While at University, Glen left programming aside to focus on Biology, but when he graduated he formalised his knowledge and skills by completing a Graduate Diploma in Applied Computing (GradDipAppComp) at Central Queensland University in 1995.

In 1997, while still working as a cytotechnologist, he developed the AutoScan Imaging System for Pathology Laboratories. This system has been in continuous use in a number of Pathology and Radiology laboratories throughout Australia since then. The system includes Medicare Australia compliance for the storage of electronic request forms using HeSA Certificate based PKI.

LRS HEALTH

In 1990 Glen and his family moved to Victoria to join the team at LRS. In response to spiralling X400 service costs he was integral in the development of "EQuery" which was, at the time, the first Internet based secure messaging system used by a Pathology Laboratory.

Since that time, EQuery has evolved into AllTalk which includes message tracking services, PIT / HL7 conversion utilities and viewers and in 2005, Quicksecure was released which provided Certificate Based PKI Secure Email services.

Glen has also been a major team member in the development of the following LRS projects:

  • Webstro Secure web based online pathology result service
  • HICOnline (certification for Medipath systems in 2005)
  • QuickSecure PKI Email
  • SCIStore SOAP services interface for Medipath (Scottish Government)
  • GEdit GUI Result Editor interface for Medipath
  • Serial Communications interfaces for pathology instrumentation
