The AllTalk Client Transceiver Application provides the message manipulation services for both Service Providers and Doctor Practice clients.

Specific AllTalk Client actions include :

• Creates and updates AllTalk Client Information (ACI) files
• Creates and updates AllTalk Server profiles
• Encrypts outgoing messages
• Requests and receives messages
• Sends message
• Decrypts message
• Extracts message
• Stores received messages
• Requests encryption details (public keys)
• Generates tracking messages
• Generates acknowledgement messages
• Schedules and manages connections

The ACI file contains information about the AllTalk Client's Practice and the Server to which it connects.

The ACI updates are sent automatically to all AllTalk Servers which are configured on the client.

The ACI contains the Public Key to be used by other encryption clients.

The ACI also contains a list of Practice Members (typically Doctors). this list may be searched by the Service Provider to identify the delivery details for an individual.

NOTE:

• Both Doctor Practices and Service Providers run AllTalk Clients.
• At the Doctor Practice, the AllTalk Client connects to several AllTalk Servers to collect results and to send orders and documents. (The Client usually places the results into the Investigations File of the local Clinical Management system).
• At the Service Provider, the AllTalk Client collects results for each Practice, encrypts the data and then forwards the message to an AllTalk Server.
• The Client of the Service Provider also manages incoming orders and documents by extracting the message and placing the data into a defined delivery address.

NOTE:

• The AllTalk Client is Windows' executable.
• There is a Java system for Macintosh computers.
